Early 1900 during British rule in India, Three tanneries were established in Bangalore separately for Cow Hides, Sheep and Goat Leather by our paternal great grandfather in the name of - ABDUL RAZAK & CO, BANGALORE
During the same period my maternal grandfather establish two tanneries in the name of - M/s T K MD ZAKRIAH & CO. VANIYAMBADI.
The above tanneries were producing eco friendly Vegetable tanned sheep skins in large scale and Mass quantities were exported to UK and Germany to be auctioned in the leather market and was very popularly known as E I ( EAST INDIA ) tanned leathers.
The East India Company, representative to the queen of England, Queen Victoria were the Bidders for several different brands of E I tanned Leathers from India. My grandfather brands “chuna” Was one of them?
